Floating Down the River — A Soundtrack

In my family, The 4th of July is known as a day of music, jalapeño poppers, and pups that typically require a little more attentiveness. And so long as the afternoon summer showers can be avoided, we pack up our inner tubes, slip on our water shoes, and hop into the Coosawattee River for a long float back towards home. This is the part of the day I look forward to the most, although my health has had the tendency to keep me off the river these past few years (I’m happy to report I’ll absolutely be participating this time around!) After the sun has sapped our collective energy and starts to dip itself, the dogs are quick to alert us to their rising angst from the unavoidable fireworks. The night then quickly becomes one of cuddles and peanut butter bone distractions, and I’m secretly grateful in these moments to have someone to comfort and love.

The 4th has always been a familiar and reliable holiday, which is likely why it remains my favorite to celebrate. Consistently, it’s always ensured me uninterrupted time with the ones I love most, as well as a day promised in sunshine as long as it offers. If I could bottle up my energy on this day to be able to hand out to others, I totally would. However, I think this playlist is the closest I could manage to accomplishing that. I hope you enjoy!
